Caring, precise and specialist anaesthesia for complex heart and lung surgery
My work focuses on anaesthesia for minimally invasive cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, and advanced arrhythmia procedures. These operations demand more than routine techniques — they depend on a deep understanding of physiology, surgical flow, organ protection and recovery pathways.
Patients undergoing cardiac surgery want two things above all else:
to be safe, and to be cared for.
My practice is built on those principles.
Background & Training
I hold fellowships from:
- • FRCA — Royal College of Anaesthetists
- • FRCP — Royal College of Physicians
- • FFICM — Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine
and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) supporting my interest in clinical systems, governance and high-performance team care.
My clinical training spans major UK centres in cardiac, thoracic and critical care medicine. This breadth of experience shapes how I approach complex and minimally invasive cardiac work today.
Clinical Philosophy
Cardiac anaesthesia is not simply "putting a patient to sleep".
It is:
- • moment-by-moment physiological control
- • protecting the brain, heart, lungs and kidneys
- • anticipating changes before they happen
- • guiding recovery and comfort after surgery
Good anaesthesia is engineered — not improvised.
And the best outcomes come from clear communication and calm, structured practice.
Working across leading centres
I provide anaesthesia at:
These are high-volume centres for advanced cardiac and thoracic procedures, including minimally invasive approaches. Working within these teams allows me to contribute to pathways that reduce trauma, improve recovery time and enhance patient experience.
How I work with patients
Patients often arrive anxious — understandably.
Before your operation, we discuss your health, your concerns, and exactly how your anaesthetic will be tailored.
My approach is consistent:
- 1. Listen first
- 2. Explain clearly
- 3. Agree the plan
- 4. Deliver safe, controlled anaesthesia
You should never feel rushed, unheard or in the dark about what is happening.
After surgery
My responsibility continues into the postoperative phase.
I work closely with ICU teams to ensure safe ventilation, pain control and smooth awakening from the anaesthetic.
My goal is straightforward:
safe surgery, safe wake-up, smoother recovery.
